Futures of Competence Development and Learning

With rapid technological changes and intertwining global challenges, many organisations are struggling to anticipate future competencies and learning and development needs. There’s a pressing need and demand for organisations at all scales to promote lifelong learning and to build organisational capacity in anticipating, adapting to and proactively shaping future competence needs – from technical, interpersonal and sustainability skills to a multitude of leadership competencies.

Together with the Region of Skåne, Media Evolution will gather a diverse group of community members and experts from across the region to examine how organisations can meet their teams’ competence development needs within the changing world of work.

In this Collaborative Foresight cycle, we’ll explore questions, such as:

  • What specific needs for competence development will emerge as a result of digitalisation, adoption of emerging technologies, like artificial intelligence, and novel forms of human–machine collaborations?
  • How will shifts in the social meaning of work and the organisation of work shape competence development in the future?
  • What new ways, methods and spaces of professional learning will emerge in the future?
  • How will organisations attract and retain talent both within and outside of the region in the years to come?
  • How can we foster a strong culture of lifelong learning in our business communities?

We invite those interested and invested in the topic to join this Collaborative Foresight cycle in which we’ll scan signals and trends of today, imagine a spectrum of futures and unpack the relationships, skills and strategies developed today to meet the needs of tomorrow.

Join us as Core Contributor

A group of 15–20 Core Contributors will meet during four days of workshops facilitated by our Collaborative Foresight team. During these workshops, the group members tap into their expertise and experiences and together identify important signals and drivers of change, create scenarios and visions of possible, desirable and alternative futures. From there, they lay out approaches and strategies for working with competence development and professional learning within their organisations.

As a Core Contributor, you’ll get access to our unique method and tools for practising foresight, including signal scanning and scenario and vision building. You’ll walk away with novel insights, industry connections and a set of skills and resources to bring futures-thinking and strategic foresight into your work, team and organisation.

The core group workshops will be held in-person at Media Evolution between 8:30–16:00 on 24–25 October and 14–15 November 2024.

Participation is free-of-charge but places are limited.
