The class

This class explores the innovative possibilities of 3D printing as a tool for creative practice. Through a combination of hands-on exercises and inspiring lectures, the class will cover how 3D printing can be used for problem-solving, prototyping and sculpture, and functional art, allowing participants to explore new creative processes. The class is conducted at Lunds University’s 3D printing lab – a modern research facility for product development and manufacturing methodology.

For Whom?

  • Artists, designers, makers, and creative professionals interested in integrating 3D printing into their work.
  • No previous experience or equipment needed.
  • Participants must be employed or freelance workers within the culture and creative sector in Skåne.
  • Participants needs to have a valid liability insurance (Anvsvarsförsäkring)

What You Will Learn

  • The basic principles of 3D printing and the characteristics of different printers and scanners.
  • How to use 3D printing as a problem-solving tool and a means of creative exploration.
  • The full workflow of 3D printing, from ideation and digital modeling to production and post-processing.
  • Characteristics of innovative materials and technologies.
  • The role of 3D printing in creative processes.

Instructors

Axel Nordin, Senior University lecturer & David Andersson, Research engineer.

Both Axel and David works at the Department of Design Sciences at the Faculty of Engineering, Lund University.
